Eldicare 2.0

Expansion of Elderly Care

Eldicare 2.0 aims to strengthen the collaboration between sectoral partners in elderly care and educational providers in the healthcare sector. Through a long-term sectoral skills strategy that addresses skill gaps in the labor market, the project seeks to update the professional profiles and competencies of care professionals. Project activities

  • Establishing a forward-looking strategy for upskilling and reskilling in the field of elderly care.
  • Developing a set of updated professional qualification profiles for elderly care professionals.
  • Creating modular, competency-based training curricula for the reskilling and upskilling of elderly care professionals, based on the new professional profiles.
  • Conducting pilot training sessions.
  • Providing practical solutions to achieve long-term impact and sustainability in the field of elderly care.

ProjecT goals

  • Continuous training and education of professionals in elderly care.
  • Updating existing and emerging professional profiles with current and essential qualifications for elderly care professionals.
  • Developing a common methodology to address future skills needs.
  • Enhancing the quality and attractiveness of training in the healthcare sector at the European, national, regional, and local levels.

Project contributors

In the consortium, we are going to involve Educational Providers of Healthcare Trainings (VET & HEI), Market Representatives (elderly care nursing homes, EU Associations) and Partners that provide specific expertise. We are going to train 850 learners, while 60 mobility flows will be implemented. Inter alia, the following results are expected: Blueprint Report on the future Elderly Care Providers, 6 Competence Based Curricula, Policy Recommendations, updated Occupational Profiles in caregiving sector.

Target Group

  • Care and community homes as well as public and private institutions.
  • Stakeholders in aging policy, including the European Commission, the European Social Committee, ministries for labor, health, social care, and finance, regional authorities and institutions, pension systems, and associations.
  • Educational providers, teachers, trainers, and staff from educational institutions, teachers' associations, vocational education and training (VET) schools.

Kick-Off Meeting in Athens

The kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project Eldicare 2.0 took place in Athens from July 3 to 6, 2023. During the meeting, the 17 partner organizations from Greece, Austria, Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belgium, and Spain met for the first time to discuss and plan the upcoming activities.n.
